Carlsbad companies build precise products. The paperwork behind them usually runs on spreadsheets. This is a fixed-price look at where AI or software would earn back real hours, in two weeks, in one ranked document. The studio is under an hour away.
For a city of 115,000, Carlsbad holds an unusual number of product companies. Medical device firms, golf equipment brands, wetsuit and hardgoods companies near Bressi Ranch and the Village, and the professional services firms that support all of them. The engineering side is careful. Drawings get versioned, tolerances get checked, testing gets documented. Follow an order past the engineers, though, and it lands in a spreadsheet one person maintains.
That spreadsheet is carrying more than anyone planned for. Dealer orders arrive by email in whatever format each dealer prefers. Warranty claims get logged by hand. Product specs exist in three versions and the newest one sits in somebody's inbox. When a distributor asks about a batch from last spring, a person opens folders for twenty minutes to answer.
The audit follows one order from the purchase order to the shipped box to the paid invoice, and marks every point where a person carries information between two systems. We put hours on each one, price what a fix would cost to build, and rank three to five of them. Companies with strong engineering often have a smaller problem than they expect, and the document tells you how much smaller.
A golf or action sports brand. Dealer orders arrive by email, twelve accounts in twelve formats, and somebody keys each one in before Friday. The audit measures the hours and the typos, then prices an intake step that reads the orders and files them. Sometimes the answer is a small build. Sometimes the answer is that the order system they already pay for does this and nobody set it up.
A device maker in the Village. Every batch leaves a paper trail across a shared drive, an inbox and two binders. A customer question about a shipment from last spring costs half an hour of searching. We check whether a searchable answer source built on those documents is worth the money, and we mark the records that stay in human hands.
A supplier with two hundred products. Prices change once a year and land in a catalog, a quote template, the website and a distributor sheet. Somebody updates all four, and one of them is wrong by March. The audit prices a single source for that list and says whether the build earns its cost back.
We take on established businesses with real operations, roughly five to fifty people, where the owner still knows how the work moves and can get us thirty minutes with the people who do it. Product companies fit well, because the same order comes through often enough to count.
One and two person businesses get a different answer. There is rarely enough repeated work to earn back the fee, and the honest recommendation is ChatGPT Plus, a scheduler and one good template. We say that before you pay us, not after.
The price is fixed before we start, and the work takes about two weeks. Carlsbad sits inside an hour of the studio, so the walkthrough happens at your table with your team in the room. Nobody is obligated to build anything afterward, and larger builds are quoted separately if you ever want one.
This page was drafted from a structured outline and hand-reviewed before launch. The work itself is custom, owner-operated, never templated.
One paragraph about your business is enough. Or just email hola@xala.studio.
